Cupertino incorporated in 1955, and most of its housing went up around 1960 as the orchards between Stevens Creek Boulevard and the foothills were subdivided. Monta Vista was the first tract. Rancho Rinconada followed with small Stern and Price houses that shipped with four breakers for the entire home, two 15 A and two 20 A. The Fairgrove tract added about 224 Eichlers with post-and-beam roofs, radiant slab floors and no attic to fish wire through. Those houses were wired for a 1960 household, and today the same houses are asked to charge an EV, run a heat pump and cook on induction.
