Why Millbrae's post-war hillside ranches run out of panel space
Millbrae was built in a few big pushes. Niels Schultz finished the Millbrae Highlands, a 1927 subdivision of Spanish, Mission and Tudor style homes, by 1945, and broke ground on Bayside Manor east of the tracks the same year for war workers and veterans. Capuchino went up on former flower farms between 1946 and 1956, Trousdale and Murchison completed the first Mills Estate homes in December 1954, and the Stoneson Brothers built the 700 single-story homes of Millbrae Meadows between 1955 and 1964. That is why so many service calls here start with a 1950s panel on a sloped exterior wall and a kitchen still on its original circuits. Fox Electric, based in San Carlos (CSLB #1145945), handles the permit, the PG&E application and the inspection for Millbrae homes.
Electrical project resources for Millbrae
Millbrae separates a permit request into the scope of work, application information, and supporting submittals. City review follows the upload, and incomplete packages may be returned. The portal can also provide an authorized contractor access to an owner's project. Treat submission and permit issuance as separate steps, and confirm who is responsible for each document.
Prepare the scope, property and project-team information, and electronic submittals required for the application.
Follow the city-provided portal walkthrough when creating a new permit request.

Millbrae Electrical Questions
How much is the Millbrae permit for a 200 A panel upgrade?
File the proposed service work through Millbrae's eProcess360 process and confirm the current fee with the Building Division. The service item, permit issuance and other charges should be checked together.
Does Millbrae have an instant EV charger permit?
Confirm the current EV application path with Millbrae's Building Division through eProcess360. Assess the existing panel and proposed charging load before submission; the permit process does not establish that the service can support the charger.
Who turns the power off for a panel swap in Millbrae, the city or PG&E?
PG&E handles utility disconnect and reconnect coordination for the proposed service work. Confirm what Your Projects approval is needed and coordinate the city inspection before setting the installation date.
How do inspections get scheduled in Millbrae?
Use Millbrae's current inspection request instructions and confirm an available appointment before covering work. Have the permit information and any prior correction notice available so the inspector can assess the requested stage.
Is Millbrae still on Peninsula Clean Energy?
Yes, under a new name. Peninsula Clean Energy, formed in 2016 by San Mateo County and all 20 of its cities, became WestLight Energy on July 1, 2026, and the name started appearing on PG&E bills on July 17. Delivery, the meter and the service drop stay with PG&E, which is why panel work still runs through PG&E.
